Ohio Mentors

As members of the first set of mentors, we have had the privilege of working with 18 beginning advisers — some for two years and some for three.

All but one of those mentees are still in education.

Two others are not currently advising because their programs were discontinued. We have been so excited and proud to see our mentees move on in the profession.

This year Kari Phillips’ staff at The Courier, Olentangy Orange H.S. in Lewis Center, OH, are finalists in the NSPA feature story of the year contest.

Many others are currently serving on the Ohio Scholastic Media Association board (the state organization). Julieanne McClain of Delaware Hayes H.S. in Delaware, OH, is the secretary.  Many brought their staffs to OSMA’s fall workshops.

It is exhilarating as mentors to see these fresh faces become leaders in their profession.
