Linda Barrington Carl Towley speechLinda Barrington received the Carl Towley Award at the JEA/NSPA convention in Boston.

The award is JEA’s highest honor and is presented to a JEA member whose work is “unusually beneficial and of superior value to the national JEA and to scholastic journalism,” as the JEA website explains.

Linda has contributed to scholastic journalism in a number of roles, especially through her work with the JEA Mentoring Program and the Kettle Moraine Press Association.

In her speech at the Awards Luncheon, Linda talked about the JEA Mentoring Program and what it contributes to JEA and to the mentors and new advisers who are involved. Linda has served as co-chair of the JEA Mentor Committee since the program began in 2007.
