The Dow Jones Newspaper Fund will be awarding class sets of The Wall Street Journal for the 2011-2012 school year.

High school teachers enter the selection process by submitting a 250-word essay on how they will use the newspapers in their media classes.

The deadline for submitting an essay is Sept. 19. The 30-copy subscription begins in October. Other WSJ resource materials also are included.

When I was teaching high school journalism, I found using newspapers to be a great teaching tool. I imagine many of the mentors would agree.

So, mentors, alert your mentees to this opportunity.
