JEA Mentors (Ohio)

We want to urge JEA mentors to encourage their mentees to apply for the Reynolds High School Journalism Institute for high school journalism teachers. The postmark deadline is March 1.

The program offers an intensive two-week all-expenses-paid workshop (including transportation, room, and board).

Instruction is based on the core tenets of journalism and the skills needed to produce a top-notch scholastic publication.

This year, 175 applicants will be selected to attend the workshops which are held at five different locations throughout the U.S. (See sidebar.)

We have been instructors at the Kent State site for several years and have witnessed the highly effective immersion technique of teaching advisers to be advisers.

In addition, three of our current mentees and two former mentees were graduates of the Institute.  We know that they have gained valuable skills from the program, and we encourage all of our mentees to apply.

It would be great if all JEA mentors would encourage their mentees to apply, too!
