Maggie Cogar joined us at the Scholastic Press Association Roundtable at the JEA/NSPA convention in Minneapolis. I’ve been attending the SPA session for years. You don’t need to be a SPA director to attend. The roundtable, led by Julie Dodd, always has relevant information and discussion for all us interested in the state — and states — of scholastic journalism.
As I talked with Maggie after the session, I learned she was a mentee of Georgia and Wayne Dunn. Fortunately, I had my video camera with me making it possible for you to hear her thoughts on being a JEA mentee. Maggie also offers advice (I asked) for anyone who might be interested in being a mentor.
